RULE 1: REPORTING TO SCHOOL:
Every student must report to school on the slated date of opening a new term.
(a) All students must report to school on the first day of each term between 8:30AM to 6:00PM.
(b) Any student reporting later than the official date of reporting must be accompanied by a parent and must report on a working day between 5:00pm – 6:00pm.
(c) Every student on arrival at school must first report to the bursar’s office and obtain a clearance form.
(d) All students must report within two weeks from the reporting date, failure to do this will lead to loss of vacancy.
RULE 2: OBEDIENCE TO AUTHORITY:
(a) All students must obey and respect the head teacher, teachers, prefects and all persons whom the authority of the head teacher may from time to time be vested.
(b) Every parent/guardian shall obey and respect these rules and encourage the child or protégé to do the same.
(c) Every student and parent/guardian shall execute an undertaking of obedience to these rules on the form attached at the back.
RULE 3: PUNCTUALITY:
Students must observe punctuality at all events and functions prescribed by the school time table.
RULE 4: ACADEMIC DISCIPLINE:
(a) Attendance of all classes, study time and examinations is compulsory. Preps must be carried out only in the authorized premises.
(b) Work given in class must be done and handed in on time.
(c) Copying of whatever kind in class exercises or tests is strictly forbidden.
RULE 5: EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE:
Any form of examination malpractice like; copying and assisting each other prior knowledge of examination question, shall lead to cancellation of results and the student’s dismissal from school.
RULE 6: PERMISSION:
(a) A student may leave the school compound only with permission obtained from the head teacher or the authorized deputy head teacher.
The permission chit must be counter signed by the parent or guardian and immediately submitted to the head teacher on return.
(b) Leaving the school compound without permission will lead to automatic expulsion.
(c) The following areas are out of bounds to all students without the written permission from the head teacher:
(i) The dormitories during class time.
(ii) All staff quarters.
(iii) Anywhere else outside the prescribed school compound.
(d) Any student on a school outing who defects from the group and goes elsewhere will be considered having broken bounds and would be punished by indefinite suspension.
RULE 7: RESPECT FOR PERSONAL AND SCHOOL PROPERTY:
(a) All students are expected to use school property responsibly and avoid deliberate negligence or reckless damage to the same.
(b) Any student who damages school property shall be required to pay for the repair or the replacement of the damaged property before being accepted back to school.
(c) A student who is proved to have stolen property of the school from a member of staff, a fellow student or the community around the school shall forth be indefinitely suspended.
(d) Students must keep their property safely; the school cannot accept responsibility for loss of any students’ valuables. Students’ pocket money should be deposited with the school bursar for safe custody.
(e) Students are not allowed to posses the following items; radios electric kettles, water heaters, cellular phones and hair dryers.
RULE 8: DRESS CODE AND PERSONAL APPEARANCE:
(a) Students must dress in the school uniform including decent black low-heeled shoes during school hours and at any occasion the school authorities may find fit.
(b) Blouses must be properly tucked inside the skirt.
(c) Out of class, uniform must be worn out at all times and any other functions mentioned in (a) above.
(d) School uniforms and out of lass must be kept clean and presentable at all times.
(e) Students must keep their hair and nails short and neat.
(f) Bathroom sandals are not to be worn either in class or anywhere on the school compound without permission.
Ear rings, necklaces bangles, bracelets (jewelry) rings, nail vanish, make-up, skin lightening, perming, special hair cuts e.g. French cuts are strictly forbidden.
RULE 9: ORDER AND SILENCE:
(a) All students shall observe silence and orderly behavior during study and preparation time, in the chapel, during prayers, in the dining hall, at assembly, during examinations and at other prescribed functions.
(b) Excessive noise or any other disturbance by a student in the classroom, on the school compound, laboratory, dormitories or along verandah is unacceptable and may lead to a punishment.
RULE 10: CLEANILINESS AND RELAINCE:
(a) All students shall participate physically in keeping their school clean in accordance with the specified schedule or roster. This shall include cleaning of the school compound, classrooms, sick-bay, dormitories, bathrooms, toilets and latrines, dining hall, etc.
(b) All students must participate in communal work such as peeling, digging, sweeping, etc.
(c) Personal hygiene must be observed by all students at all times.
RULE 11: ATTENDANCE:
Attendance of the following activities is compulsory;
(a) All classes.
(b) Church service on Sundays.
(c) All roll calls.
(d) All official study times.
(e) All meals and other school functions.
(f) All tests and examinations.
(g) All co-curricular activities prescribed on the school programme.
(h) All assemblies and official talks/ seminars.
RULE 12: VISITORS AND FOOD:
(a) Visitors are allowed on visiting days communicated in the circular letter.
(b) Visitors coming on any other days must first seek permission from the Headteacher’s office before seeing their children.
(c) Visitors must come with a Visitor’s pass book.
(d) All students shall accept the type and amount of food the school authority provides for meals.
(e) Cooked food and alcohol from outside are not allowed at any one time on the school compound.
(f) In case of death, students will be allowed to attend funerals of immediate family members only. Students will not be allowed to attend funeral rites, weddings, birthday parties, etc, during the course of the term.
RULE 13: ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR:
(a) Immoral behavior including but not limited to possession of pornographic materials, homosexuality, indecent exposure of one’s body, any form of sexual perversion, etc. is forbidden.
(b) No student is allowed to settle a problem by fighting, torturing or teasing the other.
(c) Teasing or bullying of any kind is strictly forbidden at school and is punishable by indefinite suspension.
RULE 14: STRIKES/ VIOLENCE:
(a) Any form of violence e.g. strike, riot or rowdy demonstration, bringing bodily or psychological harm to a person or persons, involving destroying property is forbidden and punishable by indefinite suspension.
RULE 15: CONSUMPTION OF CIGARETTES AND ALCOHOL
(a) Students must not drink alcohol nor have it in their possession or act under the influence of the same.
(b) Students shall not smoke cigarettes, any intoxicants or prohibited drugs and shall not have them in their possession or act under their influence.
Violence of (a) and (b) above is punishable by indefinite suspension.
RULE 16: LANGUAGE:
(a) English must be used for communication at all times and in places at school during the course of the term.
(b) The use of indecent language, vulgar expressions is forbidden.
RULE 17: RELIGION:
(a) Freedom of religious worship shall be guaranteed provided its exercise does not disrupt the school programme.
(b) Church services are compulsory for all Christian students on Sundays.
CONCLUSION:
Students are advised to adhere to the above school regulations for their benefit and that of the community to reap maximum benefit in quest of a peaceful and conducive learning environment.
