School Curriculum

THE CURRICULUM:

Christ the King Secondary School admits all girls (from P7 and S4) to study, grow and thrive at the best girl’s school in Rakai District. Founded in 1954 we offer the National Curriculum to our learners. The school offers a wide curricula so as to provide a balanced education for the girls and wider opportunities when aspiring for their future careers.

In the new lower secondary curriculum for senior 1 and 2, learners are expected to offer 11 compulsory subjects plus one elective study, making a total number of 12 subjects.

The Subjects

At Christ the King Secondary School, learners study as set of compulsory subjects and choose from a range of elective subjects that allow them to follow their own interests and to specialise in particular areas.

The elective subjects include:

In the new lower secondary curriculum for senior 3 and 4, learners are expected to offer a minimum of 8 and maximum of 9 subjects, out of which 7 are compulsory.

The compulsory subjects are

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • History
  • Biology
  • Geography

The two elective subjects are selected from the following:

  1. Practical (pre-vocational) Electives including
  • Agriculture
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Art and Design
  • Information Communication Technology

2. Language Electives including:

  • Foreign languages – French
  • Kiswahili
  • Literature in English
  • Local Languages – Luganda

3. Religious Education Electives including

  • Christian Religious Education

At ‘A’ level (Senior 5 and 6) the following subjects are offered under Science or Arts.

Students at A’ level are expected to offer 3 principal subjects with General Paper and a Subsidiary subject (Subsidiary Mathematics or Subsidiary Information Communication Technology). The subsidiary depends on the combination offered.

UCE & UACE PERFORMANCE FOR 2023

UCE RESULTS SUMMARY
75 candidates scored First Grades of the 127 total candidates that sat in 2023. 36 candidates scored second grades while only 16 candidates scored third grades.

UACE RESULTS SUMMARY
08 candidates scored between 15-20 points of the 29 total candidates that sat in 2023. 12 candidates scored between 10-14 points while only 09 candidates scored between 05-09 points
